Landscape Artisan was founded in 2003 by owner and President Bob Porter. Bob Porter grew up in the landscape industry in Oakland County, Michigan under his father’s tutelage at Don Porter Landscaping on Mann Road in Clarkston. Since 1981, Bob has worked full-time in the landscape and snow removal industries, beginning in lawn maintenance and developing into an expert in landscape construction, particularly in stone and water features. Bob’s experiences in life have led him to work for Mountain West Trees in Aspen, Colorado where he was a Landscape Project Manager for projects such as Prince Bandar’s Aspen estate to working for Environmental Artists in Clarkston, the award-winning landscape designers.
In 2003, Environmental Artists down-sized and Bob was let go. He took the plunge and began his own small business – Porter Enterprises. Porter Enterprises began as a small one man crew with one truck operation out of Bob’s house in Ortonville, and has developed into Landscape Artisan, LLC with a full crew, sometimes two, working out of our new shop on South Saginaw Street in Pontiac.
Landscape Artisan is a complete landscape design and build firm. Landscape Artisan is about meeting the needs of their landscaping clients in Oakland, Genessee and Macomb Counties. From designing a landscape plan that will enhance the value of your property and the enjoyment of your home to meeting a client’s budget. From fixing a drainage problem to building a retaining wall that will stand the test of time. We have expanded ponds for client’s to enjoy their koi fish and we have custom built ponds from scratch. Whether we build our own design or that of another landscape architect or designer, Landscape Artisan is about making our client’s happy.
