Landscape Artisan, based in Ortonville, Michigan, has consistently delivered quality residential and commercial landscaping services to customers in Oakland, Wayne and Genesee counties since 2003. We provide landscape design, plantings, patios, pathways, walks, unique water features such as ponds and fountains and specialize in ornamental stonework of the highest quality, including dry stack walls, benches and garden ornaments. Founder Bob Porter is a third generation landscaper, with over twenty five years experience in the landscaping business and the Porter family have been involved in landscaping in South East Michigan for three generations. Serving his apprenticeship under his father, immediately after high school, Bob was involved in all aspects of the business, from grass cutting and weed pulling to landscape construction, eventually running the company’s lawn maintenance division. Bob then worked with landscaping companies across the country, including stints in Oregon, Montana and Colorado, where he worked for Mountain West Trees and was the Project Director for Prince Bandar’s residential complex in Aspen, before founding Landscape Artisan in 2003. Bob’s ambition remains, in his own words, ‘to create a masterpiece on the canvas of the earth itself,’ certainly not something you hear every day, but then Bob isn’t exactly your everyday landscaper. Bob always prides himself on his work and his hands on approach, personally maintaining quality control from start to finish, often working with the crew on each project. He not only builds landscapes, but also builds relationships with clients and Landscape Artisan proudly boasts a customer retention rate of over 90%. In addition to his quarter century of experience in all aspects of the landscaping industry, Bob possesses academic qualifications in horticulture and soil sciences and is a member of the Michigan Green Industry Association and The Stone Foundation.
