About Us

The Porter family has been serving southeast Michigan for over 60 years. Bob is a third-generation landscaper with over 25 years experience in the field. In the 1990’s, Bob worked for Mountain West Trees in Colorado and was the Project Director for Prince Bandar’s residential complex in Aspen. He also worked for Environmental Artists of Clarkston, Michigan for 5 years before starting his own company, now Landscape Artisan, LLC.
At Landscape Artisan, the design and installations are completed by professional artisans. We draw on our experience to blend the perfect plants and materials for your site, creating beauty from the landscape for years to come. Combining old world techniques and modern tools to manipulate natural stone to form retaining walls, sitting walls, outdoor kitchens, fireplaces, benches, steps, patios and terraces. The use of natural stone can set your landscape apart and lend it your personality.

A simple but inspirational Mallorcan gate.
The trail from Deia to the beach.

As a member of The Stone Foundation, I traveled to the Stone Symposium in Deia on the Island of Mallorca in Spain for a week-long study of old world stone craftsmanship.
The stone work there dates back to pre-Roman times. Stone masons from all over the world attended the symposium.
